My name is Julie. I am married (see my dress over there) to the love of my life and enjoying our fun experiences together as husband and wife. Though we married in New Orleans, LA, we live in Arizona, where I was born and raised! I'm a proud Phoenician.
By day I am a rogue marketer--not really "rogue" per-say as I work at a local software company! By night I'm a freak-foodie and mother to an adorable Shar-Pei Pitbull. A picture of his stunning physique is below. We recently adopted another beauty; our sweet Perla, a Lasah Apso-Poodle mix. The 60 pound difference doesn't come between them at all. Animals sure are amazing that way.
In moments of high stress, I find myself being drawn to relaxing cooking shows which help soothe my soul and calm my nerve. Food Network, Cooking Channel and PBS (Yes, public television) are my go-to places. Ina Garten, Ree Drummond, Easy Chinese, America's Test Kitchen, Rachel Khoo and Lidia Bastianich are all on my DVR at some point. These shows, the people hosting and the food they make elicits a smile. I couldn't stop it if I tried. And though they don't cook vegan or vegetarian most of the time like I would want, I can appreciate their love for food, their passion and the fact that they are simply helping me to relax!
I started this blog, honestly, after I got tired of my other one. This blog, is something I'm more passionate about. Eating healthy and meat-free is where my heart is. If you've never tried a month of "Meatless Mondays" before, you should. It's one day a week that is dedicated to being meat-free. If you have done a Meatless Monday before, then this is just like that but everyday...forever! (Sounds daunting!)
You will start to feel better, your energy level will rise and you will enjoy cooking again. When you cook this way you get to experience the ultimate joy in food the way it was, is and has always meant to be loved.
The goal is to love animals, treat them well, and love our food, love our bodies and treat them well! (See what I did there...!)
